Hi all

It's been a while since I haven't given you an update - so here's one which I hope will whet your appetite :)

Shane Hoyle has done us some lovely miniatures, some of which have already been previewed here - others will be a pleasant surprise for you I hope! I must thank Shane again for his great work, as I believe he has not only done a brilliant job, but also captured the characters perfectly.

Some of you have already got the Thor Pasadenas model as a freebie when they ordered our last release, he'll be available in the next pack of figures done by me:
Of course, those figures will be for use in Golgo Island, but they'll also be the main protagonists of our upcoming post-apoc skirmish game, Neutron York 3000.

A lot of progress has been made on the rulebook since then; nearly all the sections have now been added to the Beta, and Tony Yates/Shadowking has done more outstanding artwork for it:

The minis are now with Tony Barr at East Riding Miniatures; Tony's crawling under work with that new workshop under construction, but he said it shouldn't be too long before we can release the figures (keep your eyes peeled for the next update!); as for the rules, they should be released by the summer :)

None of this would have been possible without your support, so I really hope you'll like what you see and where we are going with that new project!

Des JFJ fidèles à elles-mêmes: trop cool.

J'enrage d'autant plus d'avoir été malade et de m'être traîné comme une vieille merde tout le week-end. Oueurk, si ce blog n'était pas familial, j'aurais posté une photo des trucs dégoulastre que je crachouille.

Bref - soyons vaguement concis et allons à l'essentiel:

Merci aux copains d'avoir été là, à SFJ d'être des cadors, à tout ceux qui sont venus jouer, faire jouer, bavasser, et claquer en futilités leur bon pognon durement gagné.

Rapide et extrêmement lacunaire compte-rendu de deux trois trucs vus/faits, vu que je n'ai quasiment pas pris de photos, occupé que j'étais à me moucher et maudire les dieux.

Démos Golgo brillamment assisté des beaux Ulu et PKP: Thor a latté la goule aux Zorgls et récupéré la Monkey Girl. J'ai déjà dit le bien que je pensais de la fig, je le redis: elle est super.

Initiation à NY3K, en bonne compagnie - enfin hormis celle de Perno qui était très énervé.

Je l'ai accompagné voir le stand Mortebrume, son jeu favori, qu'il n'a pas cessé de comparer à tous les jeux de la convention - "ah oué mais dans Mortebrume, on fait comme-ci", "tu vois, tu saurais y faire, pauv'con, eh ben dans ton jeu tu gèrerais ça comme ça, un peu comme dans Mortebrume", et gna-gna-gna.
La table était très jolie, et elle faisait de la fumée, ça l'a un peu calmé.

Le soir, aux rois du ring, c'était moi SUPER CONNARD!
En d'autres termes, j'ai gagné le tournoi que j'organisais, hihiha. Et sans scrupules, en plus. La fine fleur de la figurine alternative rock'n'roll s'y était inscrite, je n'allais tout de même pas rater l'occasion de rentrer dans l'Histoire pour d'obscures considérations éthiques.

La finale: en bas à gauche, Simon le Keupon, à sa droite Chuck Soulodre.
En haut à gauche, François G et à droite votre serviteur.
François G, 2e aux points, m'arrache le lot que je m'apprêtais à m'offrir, à force de pleurs et de supplications.

Blague à part, ce tournoi a été un très très bon moment. Si on considère le succès parallèle du Patatasteak de Gerg, utilisant les mêmes règles, on pourrait aller jusqu'à dire que Chien Sauvage n'a pas perdu son temps le jour où il a pondu ce jeu.

Aujourd'hui dimanche, un peu de démo le matin, et départ rapide en début d'après-midi pour cause de route et de tomahawk en travers de la tronche.

Voilà, j'ai mal à mes zoeils, donc je conclus en queue de poisson, fais de gros poutous à tous les potos et leur disà la prochaine!

JFJ et Rois du Ring (encore!)

Pour parfaire l'atmosphère Jean-Claude Vandammesque de ce tournoi, des billets d'un million de Golgo Dollars seront remis aux JFJ (le samedi) afin de permettre à tous de miser sur leur champion favori.

Pour recevoir un billet, vous devez:
a) participer au tournoi.
b) le faire avec une figurine de cogneur peinte que vous avez ramenée pour l'occasion.
c) acheter un pack de figurines Golgo Island (1 pack = 1 bifton)
d) être un des 10 premiers à transmettre à l'organisation le mot de passe exclusif rien que pour les fidèles lecteurs de ce blog: "Mon anus sent la bite de macaque".

A l'issue du tournoi, son vainqueur se verra remettre une figurine Golgo Island Legends et les biftons pourront être échangés contre des figurines (5 biftons = 1 figue).

Bref, que vous participiez au tournoi ou pas, que vous achetiez des figues ou pas, vous avez une excuse pour venir encourager les plus grand compétiteurs de la planète à se mordre l'oeil en buvant un coup, et la possibilité de repartir avec des bouts de plomb gratuits.

Tournoi Rois du Ring aux JFJ'11

Comme annoncé dans un précédent post, nous animerons un tournoi des Rois du Ring (le jeu de Chien Sauvage, dont les règles sont dispos en téléchargement sur le site de Golgo ou dans un Blogurizine).

Ceux qui souhaitent participer sont vivement encouragés à ramener une figurine de cogneur - pour des raisons tant "c'est plus cool" que pratiques.

Rien à ramener en revanche pour jouer à Golgo ce week-end. :)

Votre bande de héros au palmarès encore vierge parviendra-t-elle enfin à l’acculer et faire main basse sur elle en même temps que la nique à ses adversaires? Le monde pourrait fort s’en trouver à jamais ébranlé!

J'avoue qu'à 11 jours de l'événement, la tension monte, et le doute m'habite - cette nouvelle exhibition du jeu fera-t-elle consensus?

Un message qui fera office d'annonce, de remerciements, de voeux et de kikou-lol aux copains.

2010 s'achève et il était temps - un grand-grand merci à tous ceux qui ont soutenu Golgo & Co cette année encore et plein de poutous à tous les copains que je ne citerai pas de peur d'en oublier.

2011 arrive et ludiquement il commencera par les JFJ 2011 et justement les JFJ c'est avant tout la convention des copains, ce qui suffit à en faire la meilleure. Oui, les JFJ, c'est trop the place to be, et seuls les pov' losers qui puent le biactol et le calebar sale rateront cette belle convention.
Car c'est aussi la convention de la redécouverte de la douceur du terroir autour d'un gobelet de gouleyant Calvados ou de savoureux Gros Plant, en faisant des jets de dés dont on se fout - ou dont l'importance se résume à la possibilité d'aimablement traiter son adversaire de gros enculé, ou de se faire pareillement traiter. C'est la convention où on va quand même au bar chercher des sodas juste pour reluquer les fesses harmonieusement rebondies de la blonde du comptoir - non pardon j'ai changé d'avis finalement ce sera un Sprite, là, regardez bien à droite.

C'est la convention où on peut regarder et jouer à tout un tas de conneries plus ou moins exotiques - Golgo Island en fera partie.
Exemplaire des qualités d'esthètes Botticelliens des organisateurs, la figurine de la convention Monkey Girl et délicieusement parfumée à la banane de Golgo justifiera à elle seule de se précipiter à la convention.

Eh oui, j'en ai une - elle sera l'objectif central de la partie de démo; Monkey Girl, pensez donc, c'est à la fois une créature dangereuse, une pin-up des plus séduisantes, un sujet d'étude scientifique insondable ou presque, et un puissant rival pour qui aurait prétention à régner sur l'île, pas étonnant qu'ils veuillent tous l'attraper comme un Pokémon (ou autrement d'ailleurs).

J'amènerai aussi un tournoi des Rois du Ring pour le samedi soir, à l'heure de l'apéro. Repérez vous à l'heure de l'apéro plutôt qu'au moment où il sera servi pour savoir quand ça commence. Golgo Banana Showdown 3 - Complete Report

Prologue
This is where I slept the night before the Golgo Banana Showdown.

Round 1
On Golgo Island, all was well. Oh, of course, there was some casual fighting, but nothing exceptional, just the usual quarrels you would expect.

In the jungle, a group of Denisorix-hunting adventurers (the Denisorix is a little cowardly bird that is sought for its reportedly aphrodisiac guano) are setting foot in the territory of a tribe of giant six-limbed-ape taming zombie pygmies.

Pierre-Christophe's tribe, which is very fond of that "serpent-growing" guano, doesn't approve of that intrusion either.

For some reason, a party of stupid idiots was also here.

Naturally, it's the guys who had nothing to do there who end up in control of the area. They must be professionals.

Meanwhile in Golgoville, the Venomous Puddle gang has just received a huge stock of dope that they are about to sniff, just to make sure that it's all good stuff - especially at the bottom of the bags.

But naturally, the white powder attracts the usual suspects...

After fighting off yakuzas, Elvises and Dr West and his family of degenerate drug addict creatures, the commies finally get hold of the opium of the people.

Round 2
As a consequence of the euphoria generated by the mass consumption of drugs, the communist troops decide to throw off president N'Golo and launch an assault on the presidential palace. Revolution marches on Golgo Island, and it smells of vodka and cocaine!

The unexpected thing is some strange towel-headed cultists are already storming the palace - and the drugged putschists get ambushed.

As a bonus, it appears that President N'Golo has hired those new elite mercenaries who were recently remarked for their feats in the Golgo Island jungle.

Saved at the last second from the communist peril, the president entrusts them with a classified secret, and a highly perilous mission: Golgo Island is threatened by the return of Amidméphès, a millenia old radioactive totenkopf mummy from outer space whose cosmic pyramid has recently emerged from the sands in the north western desert. He is a menace for the entire world - a menace that only the bravest heroes can neutralise. Naturally, they accept the mission on the spot and are immediately sent to Amidméphès' secret lair.

Meanwhile, all over the island, the most precious treasures seem to have disappeared!
By the miracles of extraterrestrial radioactive totenkopf alchemic science, those treasures are to be synthesized to compose the rejuvenation potion that will completely restore Amidméphès's youth and power, and enable him to conquer the entire universe.

Gangsters, pop musicians, savage tribes, worshippers, scientists... All those who had something even vaguely precious were robbed while they were out for a fight.
They immediately head to the few people in the island who could give them information that might help them recover their goods: Irma the seer, and Madam Psiletta the greedy, the whore who centralises all the pillow talk on the island.

Round 3
Thanks to the precious information they gathered, the zombie pygmies and their ferocious 6-limbed apes find the secret place where the mortal servants of the totenkopf radioactive mummy had hidden the latest treasures they robbed; after fighting off the gang of angry Elvises, they get hold of them but unfortunately, their precious jade banana isn't there.

Meanwhile, others had decided they would go for the source of all that mess and find the dishonest cultist thieves, and exert a merciless vendetta upon them. To that purpose, they head to some ancient stones covered in strange alien writings that would reveal the secret of Amidméphès' cosmic pyramid to whoever manages to decypher them.

After an exhausting fight, the hangovered commies managed to decypher the code and gain direct access to the inside of the pyramid.

Round 4
To gain that privilege, others have to resolve the riddle of the 4 pillars - a complex system of ancient switches designed to open the pyramid's door. Unfortunately, the infamous Amidméphès has in the meantime used his necromantic powers to summon an army of mummies to defend the surroundings - and while he was at it, he also raised the dead all over the island!

The gate finally opens in front of the Elvises - but delayed by the sandmen and a group of cthulhu worshippers, they are preceded by Dr West and his abominable creatures.

Panics spreads across the island. The dead hunt the living to feast upon their brains, and everyone is looking for the quickest way out. The John Robertson Airport is litterally assaulted by survivors - there is only one plane remaining, and there won't be seats for everyone.

The bearded ladies are quickly overcome by the zombie tide.

while the nazi iron man gets into the plane and takes the last seat next to a Denisorix guano hunter.

Round 5
But the airplane cannot break out of the supernatural storm that has engulfed the area, and it soon crashes on a small nearby island - Gulgu Island, the exclusive territory of the dreaded Boar King.

Soon, the first boat people join them on Gulgu Island, and they aren't welcome either.

"What the hell is that? No way I'm leaving my chair"

Despite the loss of their iron man, who was devoured by swines in a phone cab, the nazis finally conquer the island - they now only aspire to peace, harmony, comprehension and forgiveness in a new society set in this nearly-unsoiled place.

On Golgo Island, the final ultimate and definitive fight for freedom is about to take place.
The Elvises are following Dr West in the bosom of the pyramid. Much to their surprise, they discover that what they thought was a mere pyramid was actually just the tip of a gigantic pyramidal spacecraft designed by a superior alien intelligence and buried in the sand for millenia.
Inside, they notice that the commies and President N'Golo's special agents were already there and - yet another incredible suprise - they spot, in the middle of a huge hall...
Another pyramid in the pyramid!
A sort of russian pyramid, so to speak - the kind of amazing discovery that will question all past archeological theories and revolutionise egyptology and History forever!

From his ancient tomb, Amidméphès the dreaded radioactive totenkopf space mummy finally emerges.

Probably distracted by Herbert Junior's familiar face, Amidméphès is knocked out by the chemical monster.

But in the end, the bearers of the revolutionary ideal triumph by mercilessly crushing the West family inside of the russian pyramid - another proof that there is a fate, and that it has ways that are even sillier than one could imagine.

Golgo Banana Showdown 3 - Rapport complet

Prologue
Les réceptions de l'ambassadeur de Sartrouville sont réputées pour le bon goût du maître de maison.

Round 1
Sur Golgo Island, tout allait pour le mieux. Oh, il y avait bien quelques anicroches, mais rien qui sorte du quotidien.

Dans la jungle, des chasseurs de Denisorix (c'est un nom d'oiseau - un petit oiseau très prisé pour son guano aux vertus aphrodisiaques) s'aventurent sur les terres des pygmées zombies dresseurs de sextumanes féroces.

La tribu de Pierre Christophe, grande consommatrice dudit guano qui fait pousser le serpent, ne l'entend pas de cette oreille.

Egalement présente sur les lieux, une bande de cons.

Comme il fallait s'y attendre, ce sont ceux qui n'avaient rien à foutre là qui s'y imposent par la force des armes. Ces gars-là doivent être des professionnels.

Pendant ce temps, à Golgoville, le gang des vipères harpic viennent de recevoir en toute indiscrétion un énorme quantité de drogue et s'apprêtent à s'en mettre plein les narines.

Evidemment, ça excite des convoitises...

Les cocos s'emparent finalement de l'opium du peuple aux dépens des yakuzas, Elvis et autres Docteurs occidentaux.

Round 2
L'euphorie générée par la consommation abusive de stupéfiants leur confère la témérité qui leur manquait lancer un assaut révolutionnaire sur le palais du président de Golgoville. Ils sont à deux pas de l'instauration d'un régime démocratique populaire cool.

Seulement voilà: d'étranges cultistes enturbannés sont déjà en train de prendre d'assaut le palais - et les putschistes drogués se font prendre en embuscade.

Pour ne rien arranger, le président N'Golo semble avoir recruté de nouveaux mercenaires d'élite, remarqués pour leur actions spectaculaires dans la jungle.

Sauvé in extremis du péril communiste, le président leur confie un secret d'état et une mission: Golgo Island est menacée par le retour d'Amidméphès, la momie Totenkopf radioactive multimilénaire intersidérale dont la pyramide cosmique vient d'émerger des sables du désert au nord-est de l'île. Une menace pour le monde que seuls des héros charismatiques comme eux sauront l'en garder.
Immédiatement, les héros sont dépêchés sur place.

Pendant ce temps, partout sur l'île, on constate la perte des trésors les plus précieux. Ces trésors, par le miracle de la science alchimique extraterrestre radioactive totenkopf, seront synthétisés pour composer le philtre de réjuvénation d'Amidméphès, qui une fois sa jeunesse et sa force recouvrés, n'aura aucun mal à asservir l'univers.

Cherchant à retrouver leurs biens les plus précieux subtilisés pendant qu'ils étaient partis se faire casser la gueule, tribus sauvages, gangs de Yakuzas, et autres scientifiques ou musiciens cinglés se précipitent vers les principaux relais d'information de l'île - Madame Irma la voyante et Psiletta la gourmande, mère maquerelle centralisant toutes les confidences sur l'oreiller de l'île.

Round 3
Guidés par les précieuses informations collectées, les pygmées zombies et leurs putains de singes géants à 4 bras ont retrouvé la cache des trésors dérobés jusqu'ici par les serviteurs mortels de la momie totenkopf radioactive, et ils s'en emparent aux dépens des Elvis.

Pendant ce temps, d'autres ont choisi de s'en prendre directement à la source de leurs tracas en retrouvant les cultistes indélicats, et en exerçant sur eux une vendetta impitoyable. A cette fin, ils se dirigent vers les stèles ancestrales couvertes de hiéroglyphes mystérieux qui révèleront à qui saura les déchiffrer le secret de la pyramide cosmique d'Amidméphès.

Après d'âpres combats, les cocos parviennent à déchiffrer le code, qui leur donne un accès direct à l'intérieur de la pyramide.

Round 4
D'autres devront pour y pénétrer percer le secret des colonnes - un complexe système d'interrupteurs déclenchant l'ouverture de la porte de la pyramide. Seulement voilà: l'endroit est gardé par des momies guerrières, l'ignoble Amidméphès ayant usé de ses pouvoirs nécromantiques pour réveiller les morts aux quatre coins de l'île.

La porte s'ouvre devant les Elvis - qui, retardés par les hommes des sables et les cultistes Cthuloïdes, se font griller la priorité par le Dr West et ses créatures abominables.

Partout ailleurs sur l'île, c'est la panique. Les morts poursuivent les vivants pour leur dévorer le cerveau, et l'on cherche à fuir les lieux par tous les moyens. L'aéroport John Robertson est littéralement pris d'assaut par des survivants souhaitant quitter au plus vite l'île par les airs.

Les femmes à barbe succombent rapidement aux assauts des zombies.

tandis que l'homme en fer nazi imbutable monte dans l'avion et s'assoit à côté d'un mercenaire chasseur de guano de Denisorix.

Round 5

Malgré la perte de leur homme en fer dévoré par des cochons dans une cabine téléphonique, les nazis finissent par conquérir l'île, n'aspirant qu'à la paix et à la fin des persécutions en cette nouvelle terre vierge.

Sur Golgo Island, c'est l'apothéose, le combat final ultime et définitive pour la liberté.
Les Elvis emboîtent le pas au Dr West à l'intérieur de la pyramide. Quelle n'est pas leur stupéfaction lorsqu'ils constatent que ce qu'ils prenaient pour une pyramide n'était en fait que la partie émergée d'un vaisseau spatial pyramidal d'une technologie incroyable, enfoui sous les sables depuis des millénaires.
Ils y retrouvent les cocos et les émissaires d'élite du président N'golo - et, allant de surprise en surprise, il trouvent au milieu d'un gigantesque hall...
Une autre pyramide dans la pyramide! Un genre de pyramide russe, en quelque sorte; le genre de découverte qui remettrait en cause toutes les théories archéologiques communément admises jusque dans leurs fondements les plus profonds.

De son tombeau multimillénaire, émerge enfin Amidméphès, la redoutable momie totenkopf radioactive de l'espace.

Sans doute distrait par sa casquette à hélices, Amidméphès succombe sous les assauts du fils West.

Mais c'est finalement les porteurs de l'idéal révolutionnaire coco qui finissent par s'imposer face à la famille West à l'intérieur de la pyramide russe - preuve si besoin en était encore qu'il y a un destin aux voies encore plus connes qu'on ne le soupçonnerait.

De retour du GBS avec la mite

Juste un petit mot pour dire que le GBS c'était ce week-end, que c'était cool, et que je remercie tout le monde pour l'excellent week-end.
Parce que c'était un excellent week-end.
C'est tellement con et pas dur qu'on finirait par croire que c'est normal, de passer des excellents week-ends de figurine comme ça - mais en fait pas du tout. C'est pas du tout à toutes les manifestations, qu'elles soient d'ampleur trop mondiale comme celle-ci ou plus modeste qu'on arrive à trouver tous ces bons ingrédients qui font que c'est un excellent week-end.

Donc merci encore à tout le monde sauf à Denis dit le Psilète, dit Walktapus, dit le nom d'oiseau qui s'est employé tout le week-end à ruiner son excellence de par son absence.

Photos et compte rendu bientôt. En attendant, Perno a déjà foutu en ligne sa version partisane et anti-révolutionnaire ici et là.

Et pour ne pas conclure sans image, une photo de l'armée de Simon - armée dite "en fer".

Placée en des mains expertes, elle a fait rêver certains, suscité la jalousie ou l'agitation d'autres, fait mal au cul de tous. Les profils étaient de Perno, remarquez bien.

This year again, it will be held at the MJC (Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture) in Sartrouville on August 28 & 29.

Once again the greatest scenario writers in Pontarlier wrote an exciting plot for you to change the fate of Golgo Island:

It is the great conjunction of planets, and as every millenium the comet of the banana is crossing the constellation of the Great Golgo. Carved ages ago in pre-human caves now kept by crazed towelled cultists, a legend has it that witch king Amidmephes’ interstellar pyramid will once again rise out of the fiery bosom of the earth and rule the world. Mortal and immortal servants are already busy collecting the ingredients of the rejuvenation potion that will make him recover the supernatural vigour that will enable him to carry out his projects of ultimate, definitive and perpetual domination. Those ingredients are many, and of the unique and unexpected kind, ranging from crazy amounts of gold to the shrunk head of a great mortal leader, amongst other strange treasures and selected bodily fluids. Already, darkness is falling, weird thunderbolts are tearing the skies, and a wicked organ theme is playing. They’re announcing a cosmo-cataclysmic clash, a necromantic apocalypse, an Armageddon of Mexican wrestlers, a ragnarok of martial arts – they’re announcing the Golgo Banana Showdown 3!

What is the Golgo Banana Showdown?
It is the cyclical confrontation of good and evil on Golgo Island, respectively represented by the benevolent Totemic Banana, and the dreaded Great Golgo. From those mighty clashes involving factions from all over, great changes arise on the island, and new names are cast in fiery letters in the Golgo Island hall of fame forever. In less poetical terms, it is a campaign organised as an uncompetitive tournament using the Golgo Island/WarEngine rules.

Where and when is it?
On August 28-29 in Sartrouville, France (78).

What do I need?
2 groups/gangs of 5 units (single characters or squads ranging from 60 to 80pts – figures can be from any manufacturer) for a gang budget of 350pts; a main and a secondary one Depending on the number of participants, it is however possible that 2 units of your main gang might be left out, and all games are played using the smaller budget of 3 units/210pts per gang.
If you can bring any, a dozen silly non-player creatures (like helpless thugs, civilians, but also zorgls, zombies, snakes, aliens, ...) would be a plus, but is not a requirement.
This is a tongue in the cheek competition so bring what you like, and don’t worry about the supposed competitiveness of your gang!
"Official" characters as well as custom characters are equally accepted - just contact me at banana.tyrant@gmail.com before the competition to make sure your profiles are 100% legit.

How much do I have to pay to participate?
Entry is free, and wallet-friendly solutions will be offered to participants for housing, food and drinks. But you are of course welcome to spend the money thereby saved by buying the organisers a beer, or some lovely Golgo Island figures.

Nevermind – you will learn quickly. As long as you want to play fun games with adequately silly figs in a laid back atmosphere, consider you can and must come.

Des ingrédients nombreux, insolites et rarissimes allant de la quantité d'or déraisonnable à la tête réduite d’un grand meneur d’hommes, en passant par d’autres trésors et fluides corporels choisis. C'est quoi le Golgo Banana Showdown?
Il s'agit de la confrontation cyclique entre le bien et le mal sur Golgo Island, représentés respectivement par la bienveillante Banane Totémique et le Grand Golgo. A l'issue de ces affrontements épiques, impliquant des factions issue du monde entier, naissent de grands changements pour l'île, et de nouveaux noms sont gravés en lettres de feu pour l'éternité au panthéon de Golgo Island. En termes plus prosaïques, il s'agit d'un tournoi pour rire utilisant les règles de Golgo Island/WarEngine.

Qu'est-ce que je dois ramener?
2 groupes ou gangs de figurines de 5 unités (soit des personnages, soit des unités d'une valeur de 60 à 80 points) d'un budget de 350pts: un principal, un secondaire. Les figurines peuvent être de n'importe quel fabriquant - enfin, sauf ceux qui nous feraient des ennuis si on postait des images de leurs figues, vous voyez?
Selon le nombre de participants et les moyens à disposition, il est cependant possible que toutes les parties soient jouées à un budget de 3 unités/210pts, mais qui peut le plus peut le moins.
Si vous avez la possibilité d'amener une douzaine de créatures non-joueurs de même type (comme des sales punks, des civils ou otages, des zorgls, des zombies, des serpents, des aliens ou un peut n'importe quoi), c'est un plus mais en aucun cas ce n'est nécessaire. Tout élément de décor rigolo est également le bienvenu.
C'est une compétition pour rire, donc au final, il faut ramener ce que vous avez envie de jouer et ne pas vous préoccuper de savoir si votre gang sera "compétitif" ou pas.

Ca coûte combien?
L'entrée est fixée à que dalle, et des solutions bon marché (non-lucratives) seront offertes aux participants, que ce soit pour se loger, boire ou manger. Avec l'argent ainsi économisé, vous n'aurez donc aucun scrupule à dépenser les études des enfants nés ou à naître pour payer des bières aux organisateurs sympathiques ou vous offir les somptueuses figurines de la gamme Golgo Island.

Lots more done on the 4th Dude. I missed quite a few sculpting sessions, there:
1/ added boots
2/ trousers + shirt
3/ 1st layer of the coat
4/ second layer + arm positioning
5/ hands and arms done

The coat isn't quite finished yet as I'll have some folds to add on the left side, and the collar when the head/face is done - but it looks like we're suddenly getting there ! :D

A little work has been made on the Karate Dude too: arms done, but the left one is likely to be reworked as his left biceps is too big...

A minor update on two of the figs.
Just a little bulking up with greenstuff leftovers from other sculpts. I didn't pay too much attention on the chest muscles of the first one as it will be mostly covered by his army vest.
His right arm snapped (those things are fragile), which won't be too much of a problem as it will be stuck to his chest, firing an M16.
The one on the right will be barechested, so the torso will be the next step before adding the trousers.

The Chosen One From Outer Time

In Golgoville, the rumour was quickly spread that a superhuman girl, immediately identified as the chosen one from The Prophecy, had time-travelled to the city to save it from its evils.
Emerging right in the middle of Haxor Stratocaster's turf, she faced the waves of hapless thugs by the plasmagun and the roundhouse kick. Attracted by the fight, 4 groups are now closing in - with different intentions...
For the evil Haxor Stratocaster and his lieutenants, capturing her is not only fait, but it may be an opportunity to reassess the gang's might in Golgoville.
Maniac Nerd immediately saw the beautiful woman as The Woman - the one he was promised. He would rescue her, and she would be grateful, and he would be her hero, and she would love him, and...
The Van Li brothers - those guys are always on the look out to help good people, and kick the crap out of bad ones. They're a cool bunch really.
As for Colonel Zanzibar, it is a unique opportunity for him and his shock troops of the New Golgoville Order to challenge that Haxor punk on his territory, and possibly seize a new asset for his propaganda, if not for his army - which he intends to take over the world within 6 months, by the way.

Scenario objective: get the girl.
Twist: the good guys (the Van Lis and the Nerd's buddies) get the Street Cred twist to claim additional weapons. The bad guys use the Creature Magnet to activate street punks. From turn 2 onwards, all can activate Tarah's plasmagun (AV 3k2, 24") on a 7. The lady just has to defend herself against those unknown badasses until their intentions are clear.

Turn 1
Gunshot is heard on both sides of the area - but matters will be resolved in good old close combat, as Maniac Nerd slices through Zanzibar's shock troops and the Van Lis get rid of some by street punks bothering Kurt Crowe.
Turn 2
Zanzibar's evil henchmen started by shooting down Egor - a Marie Luis vengeful rampage ensued!
The napoleonic neandertal seized a gun a fan threw him from a window, and shot down a boilersuit, then gave another one a good beating with his club, before knocking out Colonel Zanzibar and stomping on his senseless body!
Opposite the street, Kurt avoided fire from Tarah Diamonds' plasmagun before gunning down Mikhail. Then Bobby Van Li bravely charged Haxor Stratocaster. A few high kicks later, the punk leader bit the dust; unfortunately, his nunchuk-wielding cyborg bodyguard treacherously attacked Bobby Van Li from behind, knocking him down. Meanwhile, the Nerd and Johnny Van Li rushed towards Tarah Diamonds.
Turn 3&4
As his machine pistol proved inefficient against the cyborg's titanium endoskeleton, Kurt decided to engage Kronos 2000X in close combat, which obviously proved much more effective. Meanwhile, the fights around Tarah Diamonds came to a happy conclusion as Bobby Van Li fought off both the Nerd and Marie Luis in an amazing kickboxing fest.
Tarah was in good hands - and with her, it was the hope of an entire civilisation that was safe.

So, what’s it all about then? Golgo Island is the brainchild, well mostly as he stole the rules in a mugging incident in a dark alley and don’t let him tell you otherwise, of one Sylvain Boudeele. This is French for smells like stinky goat cheese and cheap wine or some such. But I digress, Golgo Island is the step child of the WarEngine, previously incarnated as Shockforce and GWAR Rumble in Antarctica. Brought back to life in printed and current form by Sylvain to fuel the quest for bananas and general mayhem on Golgo Island. Golgo Island is distilled chaos and comedic action in wargames form which can be the defining point as to whether this game is for a particular kind of player. The game is much like a smashing of Mystery Science Theater 3000 meeting the wargaming table. It’s a game that fuels ‘what if’ and ‘just because’. This is where Santo vs. las mujeres vampiro (better known as Samson vs. the Vampire Women) meets Du bi quan wang da po xue di zi (also better known as Master of the Flying Guillotine) in a no holds barred battle as underwater Nazi zombies wash up on the shore of the gaming table and start trying to cause all sort of jack booted mayhem on the gaming table.

It is the B-Movie of wargames to put it simply where many luminaries from the lighter side of cinema make appearances in a land that maybe time didn’t forget but most people that have been there wish it had. This is where Gymkata is still king and most alien invasions start on this island for one reason or another. Most mad scientists that have lofty dreams of world domination build their bases on Golgo Island and disgraced lucha libre wrestlers go to find their pride and confidence before returning to the real world. It’s a kitchen sink of 50’s through 80’s cinema of the terrible brought to life in the spirit of adventure and fun. Sort of a latter days golden age of retrospect treating the action and horror cinema as an ode to the pulp novels of the 30’s and 40’s with even more outlandish characters and situations.

Sylvain Boudeele has also produced an ever growing line of miniatures to support the madcap world of Golgo Island, most of the luminaries and personalities of Golgo Island are already represented and in some cases rerepresented as the Golgo Island Legends line grows at the skilled hands of some masters in the sculpting world (yes, this can be disputed by some water on the head troll but I happen to like the sculptors chosen to make the Legends line) such as Kev White, Tom Meier, Bob Olley, Tim Prow, Kev Adams, and Steve Saunders. A line that is basically forty-eight characters strong with a backing of around thirty five various henchmen, zombies, and Zorgls. More than enough to tempt the imagination and cause crowbar to chainsaw clashes all over the various rural and urban spots of the Island.

The rules themselves are, as mentioned, the WarEngine with a few tweaks in place to make the games more in line with the carefree pandemonium. The basic mechanics are unit by unit activation, slightly better than IGOUGO, preferred by me personally to card activations, just a simple ‘get on with it’ mechanic.

Combat is dealt with via opposed rolls with characteristics of weapons that are built into the character and specialized to one degree or another. Some characters have multiple melee or ranged attacks to choose from based on situations. Some can Affect multiple opponents with a weaker strike or possibly one mightier than average blow to bring a single opponent down to his knees. These are simple, straightforward profiles built that can cover grenade launchers, zip guns, flying guillotines, bone crushing suplexes, and more. Mechanics are based off rolling x number of six-sided dice and keeping x. A 1k1 that is roll once dice keep the roll is for those weaker troops like boiler suit shock troops while a 2k2 or 3k2 that is roll two keep two or roll three keep two allows for a simple escalation ladder to define the well hewn warriors of epic proportions from the wannabes that never will be judging by how bloody most Golgo Island games get. Coming down to the highest roll winning or alternately shooting for the fabled ‘10’ in unopposed tests.

There’s some mucking about with command radii for henchmen squads and making their 6’s into 5’s but most henchmen aren’t going to be around long enough to worry about it much anyways.

The game is structured with a highest roll wins, loser gets sacrificed to the Volcano God attitude with some tactical options but the game is geared to be free wheeling and run quickly as long as you don’t overload the game with too many figures. If you’re going to run that hundreds of zombies versus beleaguered survivalist types you’d be best off limiting players to one or possibly two characters. Gangland warfare mostly knocks around best with 8-12 figures for two players, 4-6 for three players, around 2-4 for four players if you want the game done in that reasonable 2-3 hour play span.

A nice trick in the game is the Twist feature characters have. Doing the usual roll/keep value allows the character to do exceptional things depending on the scenario and also allows for huge mash ups like a zombie infested city without the need for a benevolent or dictatorial game master. Using the Creature Magnet a character generates points that can be spent to activate various beasties on the table to attack other characters, get in the way, generally menace the other players around the table. It allows all players at the table to be each others enemies without directly attacking with their own figures all the time. Simple, but a nice element that adds a new level to the bedlam that already takes place on the tabletop.

Rules include character/henchmen creation with the obligatory love/hate relationship with points and all that. The points can likely be min/maxed like any system but Golgo Island is geared towards enjoying a fine game with fine friends sharing fine drink. This is a game about fun and stretching the imagination within the confines of a wargame. It’s a place where dual wielded chainsaws are king and exploding infants are the norm. It’s not a game for the tournament set precision point spending for every perk and advantage it’s a game for shattering skulls with kickboxing and dealing death from affair with a machine gun that never runs out of bullets on some hapless boiler suit wearing minions.

Rules aside, the creativity and environment for the game is where it truly shines. It’s this kind of creativity that keeps the wargames market fresh with ideas that aren’t a retread of things done before. It’s a game designed with a gleeful party atmosphere, the scenarios on the book are given as two to four player affairs with an obvious overtone of ‘the more the merrier’ around the table. The basic scenarios are designed for fun and above all action., where movement and conflict is required to meet the objectives. No turtling up and waiting for everyone else to duke it out for glory and then have your force at the last minute stream out to crush the weary forces and claim victory for the day.

It’s a game of madcap action with a stable rules system that keeps the fun structured and doesn’t impede or get in the way of the overall quick flow of the game. It’s a sexy, offensive, bizarre, game colored with a myriad of personalities that are sometimes recognizable from some obscure movies and other times just pure creations from the twisted imagination of Sylvain Boudeele. It’s a game world that shows one creative person can take a open source game system and twist it and beat it into submission to match his gaming goals. Then when figures to match the fevered wargaming dreams aren’t out there the creator takes putty in hand and learns to sculpt them to share his vision with the world, whether they like it or not.
This is the game where you can think, “wouldn’t it be cool if’s…” and make them happen. Golgo Island is where a small group of manic depressive Spice Mareenz can fall through a wormhole and find themselves in the situation of defending a shanty town from hybrid pink alien/ape/human hybrids while the forgotten clone of a World War II Axis leader makes a deal in the bar on the outskirts of town with Spain’s foremost secret agent over sweaty shot glasses as Golgo Island’s only female vampire wrestler leads a legion of slaves to wreck havoc on the blasphemous idol of Golgo Island's one and only officially recognized god. It encourages thinking outside the box and dusting off those old miniatures that have sat unloved in their respective packing crates. It's IP is open and encourages use of a variety of figures and the point build system is streamlined to easily attach stats to a variety of figures you might have laying around your gaming room.

But what about so-called serious wargaming? The WarEngine itself can be tailored to run more straightforward games with less flash and kickboxing easily. Designing a WWII scenario or perhaps an American Civil War skirmish is easily a snap with a more conservative use of tweaks listed in books. Civil War era weaponry gets the Slow Reload tweak with a rifle and bayonet attack getting the Long tweak. Just having the WarEngine rules in an easily digestible format in a nice game tool set in and of itself and Golgo Island as a setting shows how the system can be turned on its ear while at the same time showing how it can be used to run more down to earth styled games.

This game represents exactly that breath of fresh air the hobby needs in that it represents a gamer knowing what he wants to see out on the tabletop, not finding it already in existence and going out there and making everything from scratch. Adapting an open source rules set, sculpting his own figures, and then sharing it with the world at large regardless of the possible consequences and backlash against 80's style action and the tongue-in-cheek bad taste that gets some people up in arms and sobbing into their respective drink of choice around the game table.

Pros

Open source gaming engine that can be adapted to a multitude of genres from the bizarre to the sobering, easily referenced with plenty of examples. Can be used to run Golgo Island circus shows or skirmishes between Napoleonic forces with minimal adjustment required to the rules as long as the players are willing to substitute flavor for hard nosed rules covering every possibility on the battle field.

A fully fleshed out range of figures the likes of which are not offered anywhere else. Of course not everyone likes chainsaw wielding demons, masters of flying guillotines, kickboxers, the cast from Double Dragon, clones of Axis leaders, but really this wide span of colorful characters should just wet the imagination at the possibilities even if using other ranges of figures.

Full stats for a cavalcade of of personalities and minions that should also engage the imagination and shows a near endless parade of possibilities to pen scenarios that should keep the people around the table engaged and in high, light hearted spirits.

A set of easy to set up scenarios that can be banged out on the table easily supplying challenge for four or more players to engage in a night's enjoyment, along with the Twist attribute allowing players to actively challenge each other with neutral minions and keep a steady supply of unending combat to wet the appetite of even the most bloodthirsty barbarian beyond the table edge.

Cons

I'm biased in that I just really like this game, the environment it generates around the tabletop, the figures, but I did say from the get go I was biased. Some of the rules like the control radius among henchmen I just gloss over in a lot of cases being that I run scenarios that are meant to engage and just have fun with rather than the kind of strategy games that induce a cold sweat as you carefully try to plot out your movement and firing arcs to your advantage.

Vehicles, the game needs rules for vehicles. They can be given stats as individual characters with just a few rule tweaks but there could probably be a few ideas I haven't thought of to differentiate a rusted out Ford pick up truck full of Zorgls from the armored car with machine gun turret driven driven by the Royal Guard of President Timothy N'Golgo.

Not for everyone, this is just a matter of taste and it always is with fickle wargamers. Some like this kind of tabletop mayhem and others prefer a rigid structure with rules written to try to ax every kind of possible exploitation of the rules. Yes, Golgo Island can be min-maxed but that's going well against the grain and spirit of the game and it's hoped that your table top players are not the kind of rat finks that would do such a thing. Personally, I give table top veto rights by democratic process that if a player is being a real pain in the backside with his character creation process that the players around the table can veto his builds as not being in the proper spirit of the game. Of course, the group I play with gets into the proper spirit so this isn't really necessary.

Can Golgo Island do everything? Well, no, but it surely gives its best try at doing it and while not a game for everyone it's well worth a look for the inspiration of what one gamer can do when he sets his mind to it. For $13.95 it's hard pressed to be beaten as a source of creativity not to be checked out.

Action Dude WIP

Here's a WIP shot of what's currently sitting on my ""workbench"".
Somebody convinced me it would be a good idea to make not just 1, nor 2, but a complete 4 pack of the same character. Who we'll codename action dude.
So here's the WIP; from left to right:
- Action Dude USA: will get two machine pistols once I get some of the smaller MAC10s from Hasslefree.
- Action Dude in action: will be wearing a combat fatigues and firing an M16.
- Karate Action Dude: bare chested, in karate pants, ready to fight White Tiger in the Golgo coliseum.
- Texas Action Dude: stetson and long coat showing his right leg ready to kick.
While I'm at it, I got some stuff painted too.

Comme je vois qu'Albert Pyun intrigue et fascine, je vous renvoie à ceci:

Il y a des cyborgs vampires (dont un avec un nez en fer) menés par Lance Henriksen qui est armé d'un grand doigt. Vachement cool, même si la bodybuildeuse/kickboxeuse n'est pas à moitié aussi bien que dans Nemesis 2. C'est une des petites faiblesses du film, si on veut faire la fine bouche.

Albert Pyun...
L'amateur de ciné-coups de boule à la fois esthète et curieux de la vie aura remarqué le nom de ce réalisateur exceptionnel au générique de Cyborg avec Jean-Claude Van Damme. Ce que seul le nanarophile acharné saura, c'est que le monsieur fait carrière. Il fait carrière dans le film de cyborgs post-apocalyptiques. La démarche artistique est intéressante - de multiples variations sur un même thème, voire les mêmes personnages ou non personnages.
Des gentils, des méchants, un personnage prophétique tourmenté, des images christico-bibliques, des body-buildeuses, et des duels au soleil - le genre western spaghetti du pain dans la gueule, attention je dégage mon trenchcoat pour dégainer ma tatane.
Mauvaise langue, on dirait que ce type est complètement cinglé.
Quand on a une vraie démarche scientifique et artistique, on perd son temps à regarder ses merdes pour en arriver à la même conclusion de pathologie sérieuse de la tête - qu'on requalifiera de "grande passion".

Après avoir vu (outre Captain America, qui est super, mais pas cyborgo-post-apocayplique) Cyborg, Nemesis 2 (de la tetralogie Nemesis, sisi), et Knights, je me suis assis hier devant Omega Doom. Omega Doom, déjà, comme nom, ça cartonne, et on a un a priori favorable qui vous donne des frissons pendant tout le générique, "Ah-ah, vite que ça commence!", pendant que le glaçon se fend dans le verre de vodka au miel.

On en conclut dès les premières images que c'est au moins aussi bien que les titres sus-cités.
Il faut voir ces premières images. Ce sont les vraies premières images.

On apprécie ensuite le changement de cadre: désormais, l'hiver nucléaire a la tronche d'un hiver dans une friche urbaine Slovaque. Il y a du renouveau dans l'oeuvre, Pyun est en auto-réinvention perpétuelle et moi je dis chapeau.
L'intrigue se met en place: Rutger Hauer (c'est lui, Omega Doom) arrive dans un trou paumé où se joue l'avenir de l'humanité. Car dans le trou paumé, il y a deux armées de cyborgs rivales tellement dévastatrices qu'elles n'osent faire le premier pas pour assaillir l'autre. Moi j'y vois une micro-transposition de la guerre froide (il suffit de voir comment ils se caillent les miches, les cyborgs), un message poétique humaniste qui dénonce au moyen de parallèles qui dérangent.
D'un côté, 3 brunettes coupées au bol qui portent des lunettes de soleil.
De l'autre, une poignée de clodos avec des implants en fer en caoutchouc.
Il ne faudrait pas que l'irréparable se produise et qu'un conflit ouvert éclate - le bordel qui en résulterait aurait des conséquences pas possible sur la civilisation des machines.
Les uns comme les autres attendent de se procurer ce qui leur donnera un ascendant fatal sur leurs rivaux: des flingues enterrés on sait pas où. Parce que faute de mieux, en attendant, ils en sont réduits à se battre avec des armes beaucoup plus communes: des genre d'épées supersoniques qui font des trous. Il faut voir l'orgasme de la Mireille Matthieu en chef quand elle posera enfin les yeux sur un des vieux colts de pépé - si elle n'avait des rayban made in Slovaquie, on y lirait des perspectives de conquête planétaire.
On comprend que Rutger Hauer, qui est élégamment habillé dans le film, n'est pas là pour rien. C'est l'agent provocateur, la mouche dans le lait, la machine capable de sentiment humain qui trahira sa nature maudite pour sauver ce qu'il reste de beau et de bon sur cette terre de désolation d'où germera peut-être à nouveau l'être humain, et avec lui le regard rieur d'un enfant buvant de la Quézac.

Je n'en dirais pas plus, pour ne rien gâter au futur spectateur à qui je viens de donner très fort envie de voir le film, et surtout parce que c'est l'heure d'aller manger du curry.

Kenji Mehmet and the Golden Axe

Last night, Haxor Stratocaster faced Jakar Nilson once again to fight for long lost golden weapons. A lone adventurer had already captured the golden guns - but there was better: the mighty Golden Axe. Neither of the two gangs knew whether he had recovered it yet, but if he hadn't, they had to be in one of those nearby caves. Honestly, it couldn't be otherwise.

The improvised scenario was the following:
* 3 possible locations for the scenario objective: Turkish Star Warrior Kenji Mehmet, or one of the two caves. 3 cards among which there was one joker. Two of the cards had another card upon it, corresponding to each of the caves' contents: nothing more, or a horde of sleeping zorgls unhappy to be woken up during their afternoon nap.
* find the golden axe, keep it till the end of turn 5.
* Twist: street cred (weapons can be found in one of the 5 piles of rocks), creature magnet and Kenji Mehmet.
* Kenji Mehmet can be twist-activated to fire upon zorgls (5 twist points); he won't attack either side unless they have previously attacked him. Deciding to take his weapons or to rescue him have no impact on the scenario, but will have on the campaign.

Turn 1
Mouloud Nagasaki activates and boldly rushes to the middle of the table, and once again gets torn to shreds by zorgls.

The red hairy beasts also take on Haxor Stratocaster, who kills two of them unharmed.
While the rest of Haxor's gang rushes towards the cave in front of them, Jakar and his men head to Kenji Mehmet.
Burt Morris moves in position to get a line of sight to the insidious Karatustra who infitrated in one of the two caves. As soon as he revealed the contents of the cave, he fired his assault rifle on him - in vain. The rotting Karatustra bastard revealed the two cards, which were...
No zorgl in the cave and...
The Golden Axe!

Turn 2
Karatustra ran away with the axe to meet his gang, chased by four zorgls that appeared by the table's edge. El Bastardo moved to protect him from Burt Morris' shots, while Haxor, White Tiger and Rolf moved to the middle of the table to intercept Jakar's gang.
Burt Morris managed to get a line of sight to Karatustra and shot him down; Jakar's attempt to shotgun White tiger wasn't so lucky.
Doom racer rushed towards the enemy and rescued Kenji Mehmet, explaining how cool his gang was and how great it would be if he joined them and lent them his golden guns, from time to time. Unfortunately, he showed a poor example, as he got knocked out by White Tiger immediately after.

Turn 3
After kicking 3 zorgls out of the game on the previous turns, Boris Ulrikson felt confident he could defeat White Tiger. And he did, but was knocked out by one of his reserved attacks.
Haxor Stratocaster challenged Jakar Nilson, but was also defeated by his opponent's reserved attack.
In a totally superheroic activation, Rolf Jaxxon, who hadn't done much till then, ended the game by kicking Jakar Nilson's butt, and then successfully throwing his dagger at Burt Morris' throat.
Jakar's gang was wiped out, and both Kenji Mehmet and the Golden Axe were secured and taken to Haxor's hideout.

En marge de ça, j'ai un socle à faire.
Ou à essayer de faire; là aussi c'est pour Golgo (et destiné à être moulé), et c'est pas simple - vous en verrez la tronche si ça donne quelque chose, sinon ça finira à la benne. J'ai jamais eu de chance avec les socles, décidément.
Apart from that, I have a base to make; once again, it's for Golgo (and meant to be moulded), and it's no piece of cake for me - you'll see it if it works out, otherwise it'll end up in the bin. I've never been lucky with bases; those things must be cursed, really.

Voici le concept: deux figues jumelles -les frères Van Li- sur une moitié de socle chacune. Les deux moitiés peuvent être réunies soit pour obtenir le bonus Combined forces en termes de jeu, soit pour faire un joli mini-diorama. Vous apprécierez la joie que peuvent procurer symétrie et cercles concentriques.
Here's the concept: twin figures -the Van Li bros- each standing on a half of the base. The halves can be re-united for the Combined forces bonus in the game, or just to make a nice mini-diorama. Please appreciate the enjoyment the symmetry and the circles are bringing me.
Enfin, j'ai sous-couché un peu de figs Chronoscope; je leur donnerai un coup de pinceau pendant que la greenstuff sèche.
Finally, I have undercoarted some Chronoscope figs, and will give them some paint while the putty cures.

JFJ'10: cool!

Le week-end dernier, c'était les JFJ et c'était trop de la balle.
On y était avec PKP et Xavier pour faire les démos Golgo, à deux encâblures de la table du Psilète et de la table Golgothik du club de Sartrouville.
PKP, Xavier and I were in Sartrouville last week end to run Golgo demos at the JFJ convention - and it was a brilliant show! We were scientifically located between The Psilete's table, and the Sartrouville gaming club's Golgothik one.

Le premier jour, nous jouions le scénario "Tous au RER B". Le principe en était simple: il fallait se ruer vers le train comme des sonnés, à condition d'avoir un ticket qui va bien - ou d'en avoir piqué un à un autre joueur qui le méritait moins. Le détail a déjà été posté ici.
On the first day, we ran a "Get to the train" scenario. It was pretty straightforward: get to the train ASAP provided you had a valid ticket - or managed to steal one from another player... Full description was posted here.

Evidemment, les lieux étaient infestés de Zorgls, dont vous voyez ici les fabuleux spécimens de l'élevage personnel de Simon.

Le 2e jour, nous jouions un scénario classique de sauvetage de demoiselles en détresse; en l'occurrence elles avaient été capturées par Earthquake le super mangeur de saucisses qui de toute évidence voulait voir si leur viande était plus goûtue. Par chance, des héros passaient par là et ne l'entendaient pas de cette oreille.
On the second day, we ran a classic "rescue the damsels in distress"; here they had been captured by Earthquake, the super sausage eater, who was visibly eager to try another meat. Luckily, heroes were there to save the day.

Golgo Island aux JFJ'10

As last year, we'll be starting our convention round by the (highly recommended) "Journées Figurines et Jeux" in Sartrouville on January 16 & 17th.

We'll be taking a nice stock of Golgo metal for sale as well as a new participation game there, using the awesome train model Xavier/Chronohal had done a few years back for the Iron Dream Tounament IV and I thought I'd share the scenario here.

It's quite simple: the objective is to get to the train ASAP... Provided you have a valid ticket, stamped by the local authorities, otherwise you'll be shot down by the train guards.
Game will be played on the usual 36"x36" board crowded with hostile Golgoville hooligans, with the train placed in the middle waiting for its VIP passengers ; if we have a lot of people taking part (it's meant to be a short demo with as many players as possible) each will control a single character that will be given a ticket (a playing card) that has just as many chances to be valid (red) or not (black). The players will know what they drew, but their opponents won't, so some will have to move to the train fast and get paranoid about the other players near them, while others will have to be aggressive and steal tickets from the players who have a valid ticket - or at least, from the players *they think* have a valid ticket.
Given the nature of the scenario and the fact that they each control one unit/character only, new players can join the game at anytime.

Other variants have been suggested, like making the tickets secret to everyone including those carrying them (so that everyone is equally aggressive), or giving players the possibility to challenge the train guards instead of simply getting shot down if they don't have a valid ticket.

For those of you who speak French, here's the original scenario setting, which I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to aptly translate in English :)

Au coeur de ce scénario incroyable, un train. L'histoire, c'est que tout un tas de mecs voudraient bien monter dans le train, mais que la plupart, à l'image de l'usager moyen de la RATP en Seine Saint Denis, n'ont pas de ticket. Il faudrait qu'ils passent vite fait au guichet parce qu'on les attend le dimanche à Nancy, mais tous les guichets ont été écrasés par un hamster géant zombie -la mégatuile- alors la queue n'avance pas vite et les gens s'impatientent et ils gueulent qu'on leur avait promis le service minimum et que s'ils tenaient les sympathiques syndicalistes de chez SUD ils leur feraient la peau. Le scénario est prévu pour beaucoup de gens qui veulent tenter une partie vite fait. Ils contrôlent un seul personnage et doivent le faire parvenir au milieu (où se trouve le train rempli de contrôleurs armés jusqu'au dents) en se frayant un chemin dans la gare du N... dans une aire de jeu dévastée peuplée de vilains hooligans. Le gag est que seule une poignée a un ticket: chaque joueur pioche une carte dans le tas et la garde secrète - rouge et le personnage a son ticket, noir et le personnage n'en a pas. Comme personne ne révèle s'il a ou non un ticket avant d'arriver à portée des fusils des gardes (ce sera genre 9-12 pouces) en faisant "ouhou! ne tirez pas", il y aura d'ici là doute sur qui n'a pas de ticket et doit buter quelqu'un pour lui piquer et qui en a un et doit se précipiter vers le train, en prenant garde au mec à côté de lui qui a peut-être bien des velléités de l'égorger.

Splutj Mijn Ket in Antwerpen

Yesterday, PKP, the Psilete, Gerg and I were in Antwerpen for Crisis'09, the great convention organised by the Tin Soldiers of Antwerp.
I was running Golgo participation games while Gerg was doing the same for Incursion; PKP and the Psilete kindly took turns to help us doing so.
Hier, PKP, le Psilete, Gerg et moi étions à Anvers pour Crisis'09, la grande convention organisée par les Tin Soldiers of Antwerp. J'organisais les démos Golgo, tandis que Gerg était venu pour présenter Incursion; PKP et le Psilete se sont gentiment relayés pour nous prêter main forte.

The scenario was one inspired by a piece of art Tony Yates sent me the day before.

From outer space, the Alpha Zorgl descended in Golgoville, with the firm intention to impregnate the local stock of street hostesses in his cosy interstellar cosmo-spaceship.
The girls' protecting gang didn't approve.
The customers didn't approve.
The street hostess union didn't approve.
Actually, it was fairly well agreed that the big hairy thingie wasn't very welcome - however, opinions differed when it came to determine who would rescue the damsels in distress and get their favours.
Venu des confins de l'espace, l'Alpha Zorgl se posa au milieu de Golgoville, avec l'intention non dissimulée de féconder le vivier local d'hôtesses de rue dans le confort cossu de son vaisseau spatial interstellaire.
Le gang protecteur des filles n'était pas trop d'accord.
Les clients non plus.
Accessoirement, le syndicat des hôtesses de rue non plus.
En fait, il y avait une sorte d'unanimité dans le désaccord; en revanche, les sentiments étaient plus partagés quant à qui secourirait les demoiselles en détresse et obtiendrait leurs faveurs.

That semi-improvised scenario worked very well, and all participants seemed to enjoy it.
Ce scénario semi-improvisé marcha plutôt bien, et tous les participants ont eu l'air de s'amuser.

The atmosphere at the show was very relaxed and friendly, and I was happy to meet some internet friends and some cool traders & artists I hadn't met in the flesh yet. Among other things, I bought a few minis from Doug at EM4 and had a pleasant chat with Josef Ochman.
L'atmosphère de la convention était très détendue et sympathique, et j'ai eu le paisir d'y rencontrer des copains du net, ainsi que diverses boutiques et artistes que je n'avais encore jamais rencontrés en personne. Entre autres choses, j'ai acheté quelques figues chez EM4 et pu causer un peu avec Josef Ochman.

Campaign game: Kid Robert's previously owned cars

Last night, Jakar Nilson was back with a vengence.

He and his men (Boris, Mouloud, Burt & doom racer) decided to raid one of the jewels of the now collapsing empire of the Duke of Golgoville: Kid Robert's Previously Owned Cars. That business, run by Golgo Island's most famous mechanic, is a valuable source of vehicles and mechanical parts of all kind, but is extremely well defended - and that includes Kid Robert's own arse kicking talents.
Haxor Stratocaster, who has firmly set foot in the area, thought raiding the place would be a nice opportunity to get rid of his rival while stealing a few vehicles for his horde. He is going with Karatustra, White Tiger, Rolf and El Bastardo.

Objective: enter Kid Robert's shack to pick up some keys/tools to open the car doors, then go to the cars and steal them. 8 cars are potentially usable. Every time a player gets to a car door with a key/tool to open it, draw a card from a deck comprising: - 5 red cards (it works!) - 3 black cards (it doesn't work - try another car) - 1 Ace of Spades (uho! what's that noise in the distance? - the robot police arrive, draw another card) A figure stealing a car does so during the follow up step, is removed from play and scores 1 victory point. The gang scoring more victory points wins. A major victory is scored if all cars are stolen by the same gang - it includes knocking out all opposition (including Kid Robert & the police) without them stealing any car. Twist: Creature magnet. Thugs activated on a 5, Kid Robert on a 7, the robot police on a 7.

ACTION!

Karatustra the arse-kicking magician uses his teleportation spell to deploy into the shack and get Kid Robert's keys.
As he runs to seize a shiny New Barbarian car, Jakar Nilson shoots him down!
Despite his very scary roars, Haxor Stratocaster gets beaten up by two of the thugs defending the area. Talk about a first turn!

People get in and out of Kid Robert's shack; Mouloud Nagasaki gets intercepted by the owner, who knocks him out, before being shot down in turn by Burt Morris.

El Bastardo gets some keys and tries them on a pick up - bad luck, the engine doesn't start!
"Il peut pas piquer le pick-up! il aurait bien voulu, pourtant, le piquer, le pick up. Mais non, il ne pique pas le pick up".
As he sees Doom Racer's black helmet through the window, he throws one of his machetes at him and nails him to the wall behind him.
A few seconds later, Jakar pops at the window and discharges his double-barrelled shotgun in his face.
Things aren't going too well for Haxor's gang!

Rolf decides to run for his life; he gets to an armoured car - and just as the engine starts, he gets knocked out by two thugs catching him by surprise! The gang is completely wiped out when White Tiger is defeated by Boris Ulriksson, who were fighting over who would drive that old BMW.

But things aren't over yet!
Jakar could decide to sneak into the open vehicles and drive away - he, Burt and Boris could steal three of them... But true to his ambitious self, he decides to seize the place for good!
But for that, he'd need to get rid of the Duke of Golgoville's incoming mobile police droid!

He and Burt Morris open fire on the towering robot sheriff - in vain.
After dodging the droid's bullets and his clumsy charge, Jakar breaks from the mêlée and leaps backward.
He kisses the two shells he puts into the barrels of his shotgun, and aims for the head...

BLAAAM!

The robot falls to his knees.
(note: Jakar managed to beat the robot's 3k3 DEF and gun him down thanks to his single hero point)

Jakar and his gang are now the new owners of Kid Robert's Previously Owned Cars and can have fun in their New Barbarian Ride, yeeehaaa!

We started, on Sept the 4th, we started (@Sartrouville gaming club) our own stream in Gang of GolgoVille campaign with first scenario (dog flu) for the first round of the campaign with two games : first with 6 (!!!) players and second with 4 players.

Tof" : Marcel Lebeau (KIA by Malcolm) & Malcolm chainsaw demon

Jim : Pervo (KIA) & Lil' Brother (KIA)

Thomas : Diaper Avenger (KIA) & Mary Jane (KIA)

Eliott : Thor Passadenas (KIA) & Mustafa Ramirez (KIA)

Result : Eliott, Thomas, Jim are out before the end. Eliott was about to win but just a few steps from the table edge, Maniac Nerd (angry because his friend Renato was killed by Mustafa) "cut" his retreat and put a "bloody" end to Eliott's hopes.

Thanks to the Nerd I win the game (4 dogs retrieved) and, because of my very quiet game's start, gain the "poodle friend" bonus, yeah!

Sylvain is the only player who didn't loose any minis, I'll have to think to a specific bonus for this...

Tof' is second with 2 dogs.

I'll talk of the second game later...

The campaign @ SFJ is planned to lats 4 rounds before we gather with other clubs running the campaign.

Last night was the first series of games in the campaign we're starting.
It consisted in 3 games inspired by the scenario of TC 2000. I've been told some characters in the Golgoville range (White Tiger, Mouloud Nagasaki, Boris Ulriksson and Kronos 2000X) would work very nicely as stars of that movie, so we had to try it.

GAME 1
Two evil gangs of thugs have recently found a way to enter an anti-atomic underground complex: by bashing their defenders' heads against the door.
Alerted by the security supercomputer, the guards of the underground base all rush outside to repell the filthy punks - the base is full of a now nearly extinct technology that could save mankind on Golgo Island from the evils of radio-toxic-chemical pollution, and it is not meant to the benefit of filthy punks with silly tattoos on their butts. Among the guards, Kronos 2000X - the first in an all new generation of security cyborgs: the Turbo Enforcers 4000. The Turbo Enforcers 4000 were designed for extreme combat, hence the nunchuks as Kronos' favourite weapon.
Objective: each gang (2 heroes + 10 thugs) must reach the entry and rush as many figures (not units) as possible into the complex.
Twist: Creature magnet. Kronos is activated on a 7, the guards on a 5.

Mouloud rushes in the open shouting "Kaya! Kaya!" and gets stupidly shot down by the guards.

Jakar Nilson and his thugs proceed more cautiously, while on the oposite side of the street, Haxor Stratocaster's gang stays in cover.

Both gangs decide to go for it at the same time.

Jakar Nilson's thugs kick some serious butt among the guards, but they get charged in turn by Haxor's men.

A huge mess of a melee begins, in which the guards all disappear, except Kronos, who takes on Jakar Nilson - and knocks him out.

Meanwhile, Haxor Stratocaster and his gang rush into the building!

GAME 2
Haxor thought he would take control of the base easily, especially as the mighty White Tiger had now joined his cause - but he didn't know there was a traitor among the guards! Sergent Boris Ulriksson had a deal with Jakar Nilson, and he managed to let him and Mouloud Nagasaki in. A confrontation was inevitable, and it happened as both gangs followed the complaints of a woman to a large room. She had been tied and whipped, and the whiplashes had torn all her clothes off. For the time being, only Boris knew why, but there were more important matters: a rival gang to get rid of.
Objective: wipe out the other gang and take the girl.
Twist: initiative.

Mouloud rushed to the enemy again, and knocked out Rolf Jaxxon; while Boris was taking on White Tiger, Haxor seized the opportuinty to capture the girl - but Jakar shot him in the back with his shotgun.

GAME 3

Boris then told Jakar that the girl was the head scientist's daughter, and the only one who had the secret code to a long abandonned anti-missile silo not far from there. Jakar immediately saw what a great opportunity for his gang it was: thanks to the protection of that silo, he could avoid the destruction of his turf by the next wave of missiles from mount Hibachi (for those who forgot, the Banana Tyrant's weapons of mass destruction located on top of mount Hibachi were seized by Zombi Wrestlers at the GBS2, which is hardly reassuring).
Haxxor Stratocaster rubbed his shotgun wounds and chased Jakar's gang to the silo's entry.

Objective: Keep the girl in contact with the door for as long as possible so she can type the secret code.
Twist: buggy. The highest twist rollers (by cumulating all the gang's twists) get a buggy that takes them right in front of the silo.

Jakar full-throttled to the entrance; in the distance, he saw Rolf throwing his dagger at the buggy's fuel tank. Luckily for him, the buggy didn't explode, and its passengers were able to get down and start the door-opening sequence.

As Haxor's men reached the gate, the final fight was about to begin. Roundhouse kicks, uppercuts, bestial roars, tiger claws and talons of the eagle follow.

Haxor emerges victorious, and watches the girl type "Hello" on the keyboard.
The door opens.

And in the distance, something nasty happens to Jakar's turf.

Je suis allé faire des courses chez Auchan aujourd'hui. D'ordinaire, je n'y vais jamais, mais là - là j'avais l'Intuition.
Et je n'ai pas été déçu: ils avaient ressorti un tout nouveau rayon de films à 1.99€.
Et pour cette somme là, on a des têtes d'affiches légendaires: Billy Blanks, Mathias Hues, Bolo Yeung, Roddy Piper.
J'en ai pris 4 - ces trucs-là, ça donne toujours matière à réfléchir.
I went shopping today, in a supermarket I rarely go to. But this time, I had a Feeling about it. And I wasn't disappointed: they had a brand new stand of €1.99 movies. And for that €1.99, you get superstars like Billy Blanks, Mathias Hues, Bolo Yeung, Roddy Piper. I grabbed 4 - there's always food for thought in those films.

Ils avaient aussi le grandiose TC2000 (que j'avais déjà en DVD) - si vous tombez dessus un jour, ruez-vous dessus! Après ça, impossible de manquer d'inspiration pour jouer Boris Ulriksson, Mouloud Nagasaki, Kronos 2000X ou White Tiger.

Hier soir, je me suis invité au club local (Trollus Vulgaris) pour y faire de la démo de Golgoville.
Last night, I invited myself to the local club for a Golgoville participative demo.

Ordurex, Chance Devreaux et Boris Ulriksson débarquent sur la place de Golgoville et sauvent une p*** des griffes du vilain gang local.
Ordurex, Chance Devreaux & Boris Ulriksson reach the main square of Golgoville, and rescue a b*** in distress from the evil local gang.

De l'autre côté de la table, un joueur fétichiste des gros flingues (Stedley Davidson, Tarah Diamonds et Archie dans la même équipe) se fait, sans surprise, submerger de punks.
At the other end of the table, a player with a big gun fetish (with Stedley Davidson, Tarah Diamonds and Archie in the same team!) gets unsurprisingly swarmed by punks.

Comme d'habitude, je jouais Jakar Nilson (comme un con, comme il se doit). Forcément, ce sera lui qui crèvera en premier, les mains pleines de nibars.
I played Jakar Nilson - and played him like a bold ass, as usual. And as usual, he'll be the first one to die, his hands full of boobs.

Ordurex, profitant d'un grave retour d'acide, défonce le crâne de Mouloud Nagasaki, et lui pique sa grognasse.
Ordurex, who was high on drugs, kicked Mouloud Nagasaki's arse and got hold of his bint.

Au milieu de la table, le destin de ces dames reste indéterminé - ni Kronos ni Boris ne parviennent à prendre le dessus.
Au final, Ordurex et le Vengeur Golmon (qui a évité la couverture médiatique) se disputent la victoire, avec deux prostituées chacun.
In the middle of the table, the ladies' fate remains undecided as neither Kronos 2000X or Boris Ulriksson can claim them.
Ordurex and the Diaper Avenger (who avoided the media) are tied for the win, with 2 prostitutes rescued.

Eh oui, muhahaha!
Ce sera un post sans image, car c'est un projet top secret pour le long terme hypothétique.

Si les autres Golgo-people me suivent dans ma mongolerie, la course aux armements va faire rage - et vu mon rythme de production, j'ai intérêt à m'y prendre tôt pour ne pas être en reste. Du coup, je m'y prends avant même que quoi que ce soit ne soit convenu, har har!

Bref: j'ai donc investi dans une maquette.
C'est une belle maquette.
Une belle maquette qu'il était temps que je trouve un prétexte à acquérir.

Le prétexte est le suivant: Jakar Nilson, après avoir été traîtreusement poignardé dans le dos à mains nues au sommet du mont Hibachi, a soif de revanche. Il a soif de revanche et le premier qui osera montrer le bout de son groin tandis qu'il paradera dans les rues de Golgoville à bord de sa machine de guerre prendra lourd dans la tronche.

Je commencerai donc à assembler mon petit engin de mort prochainement, et ceci fait je le tunerai afin que les gens voient quelque chose de Beau avant d'être éparpillés en petits morceaux.

C'est ainsi que Jakar Nilson voit les choses, c'est ainsi qu'il assoira son pouvoir sur Golgoville, urinant copieusement au derrière des tocards qui eux, n'auront pas son Bel Engin.

I said muahahaha (that's how you translate "muahahaha", right?).
No pics as it's a long-term top-secret (and hypothetical) project.

If the other Golgo-people follow me on this, the arms race is going to rage - and given my production rate, I'd better start before anyone else.
So: I've bought a model kit.
A nice model kit - one needed a good excuse to buy.

And now I've found it: Jakar Nilson, who was treachously stabbed in the back on top of mount Hibachi is now hungry for revenge. He's hungry for revenge, and the first guy pointing his big nose as he parades in his Warmachine of Doom is going to pay. And the second one too. On second thoughts, everyone's going to pay.

So I'll start assembling that kit soon, and then I'll customise it, pimp my ride style, so that when people get blown to bits they have the opportunity to behold something beautiful.

That's how Jakar Nilson sees things, and that's how he'll ultimately rule olgoville, peeing abundantly at the butts of his poor opponents, who won't have a nice machine such as his.

Pour l'instant je ne l'ai soumis qu'au Golgo group pour avis; s'il n'y a pas trop de coquilles, il sera prêt à télécharger (gratuitement) très bientôt.

Le pdf fait 21 pages et comprend:
- un peu de background
- des nouvelles règles
- un guide de conception de véhicules
- un guide de création de gangs
- un guide de campagne
- 5 scénarios originaux organisés en campagne
- une section modélisme
- des liens utiles.

Je précède la question qui fâche: asque va y en avoir en français?
Eh bien, étant donné que la traduction du WarEngine et des règles de base Golgo Island ne sont pas publiées, ça n'aurait guère de sens.
Ca n'aurait guère de sens et constituerait une masse de travail, probablement à perte (et je ne parle pas que de pognon que je ne gagne de toute façon pas non plus sur le contenu anglais), que je ne suis ni en mesure d'effectuer, ni en mesure de solliciter.
Donc tout ça pour dire que, eh ben... Non, comptez pas trop dessus.

Golgo Island presents...

Golgoville, Golgo Island – home to scoundrels, petty criminals, thugs and low-life from all over the world. A lost place where all kinds of businesses flourish and prosper under the sole control of those who run them. A self-regulating anarchy everyone had got used to until a series of unexplained disasters turned the city into a most indescribable mess. Successively struck by the black plague, the zombie plague, and nuclear and biochemical warheads, the city is now divided between completely devastated areas and not quite as devastated areas. Despite the president saying everything was under control and justice would be swift to those responsible for the inconvenience, tensions are dramatic and paranoia rampant. Street gangs mutually accuse each other. Those from the more damaged blocks are convinced they are the victims of a vicious vendetta motivated by old rivalries, envy, or greed, while those whose territory was spared want to defend it against populations who were made homeless and what they think could be a set up to insidiously colonise and invade their turf. When a huge electro-magneto-sismic death ray shockwave blew the northern area into complete oblivion, the situation degenerated completely out of control and multi-lateral all out gang wars were declared. In Golgoville, the countdown to self-destruction has begun. Luckily, a few enlightened minds set passion aside for a moment, stepped back and started to seek plausible explanations and a way to avoid complete annihilation.

Mayhem rages in every area of Golgoville.
In the radioactive slums, mutated villagers are under the constant harassment of looters and sluggish critters born out of radioactivity. If that wasn’t enough, two rival alien races chose their village to clash for reasons yet unknown.

Sucked out of a warped dimensional hole created by a mysterious sub-atomic chain reaction that followed the explosion of nukes and biochemical warheads, a group of Napoleonic re-enactors from the future arrived in the middle of a streetfight involving undead wrestlers and a bunch of chainsaw wielding loonies seeking to wipe the ninja mafia out of the suburbs of Golgoville.
Always prompt in taking profit of social disorder, filthy nazis have the bad idea to challenge the Black Death Gang by sticking propaganda posters on their turf, causing yet even more tension in the neighbourhood, if that was possible.

The best informed gangs hear of a strange rumour: a young man from the slums is reported to be “The Chosen One”, the one that would save Golgoville from obliteration.

As the Evil Mushrooms from outer space were searching the village in the middle of a raid of rampaging radioactive dinosaurs, the Black Death Gang took them by surprise and massacred them.
Meanwhile, Brutella, her faithful Pervo and their half-zombie luchador ally, the Zombi King, emerged from the dark and found The Chosen One, stealing him from Martine and her mercenaries!
Determined not to leave him in the hands of people who could be even more evil than them, Jakar Nilson’s men fought to the last to finally capture the Chosen One in extremis.
Deep within Golgoville, in the leisure area, damsels in distress were attacked by ravening monstrosities from the radioactive wastelands looking for flesh meat; fortunately, mighty heroes were eager to help them out.

When the Chainsaw Church rescued them from that peril, a prostitute named Blondie gave them information that could change the course of events on Golgoville; she told them her father was astro-nucleo-physician who could undoubtedly help them determine where the warheads and the deathray were fired from. The old man lived in a high security retirement home for VIP in the fringes of Golgoville.
On their heels: Jakar Nilson’s Black Death Gang, led there by the Chosen One - who had been followed by the Space Mushrooms and the Zombie Wrestlers.
The security guards of the retirement home were completely overwhelmed by such mighty visitors. They quickly stormed the building that nearly blew apart because of the amazing fights that took place in it.
While Mustafa Ramirez was knocking out El Bastardo, he was vilely stabbed in the back by the Mushroom warlord, who captured the professor. Thanks to his science, and their own science of torture, they would soon know the precise coordinates from the nuke launching base.

Not far from there, other gangs weren’t as lucky – all they knew was it was somewhere up in the Hibachi mountains. Understandably, going there was tricky – and if they wanted to be there in time to seize the nuclear armament before some evil people did, they’d better hurry. That’s what Herr Professor Klomp would have written on the mission report if he had to justify the extortions of his commando of nazi übermenschen – slaughtering a few space pussies and Naps in pink uniforms to seize an airplane was not something Der High Kommand would mind much about.

Meanwhile, the Duke of Golgoville, head of the most powerful street gangs, the Albino Vipers, sent his troops to hunt down those who were responsible for disorder on his turf – and didn’t manage/were too stupid to escape fast enough.
Martine and her fellow gold seekers wondered why the dirty punks who were on their heels suddenly left them alone. It was certainly not because of the Banana Bay Hellhounds (they were reputed poor fighters) or the loonies in tight vinyls who claimed they were superheroes. No. Chances were it was because the place was infested by zombies… And, more importantly a rampaging giant zombie hamster – that had to be why they called it the forbidden zone.

The zone was indeed a special one, she thought, as she received a bullet in the head and the Banana Bay Hellhounds actually thought fast and managed to escape to safety through the sewers of Golgoville.
Martine and the mutant heroes followed them - but too late. The Duke of Golgoville flushed his toilet and the filthy waters started to go up.
They’d better found a way out fast if they didn’t want to drown in urine and other unhealthy fluids!

Unfortunately for them, nobody escapes the duke of Golgoville's fury. They were all captured to fight in the Golgoville arena and be fed to the sabretooth tigers.
At the end of a real bloodbath, Martine emerged victorious and was offered liberty.
Instead of taking advantage of the duke's benevolence, she challenged him in a brawl - and won, gaining liberty for herself and a large part of Golgoville altogether!
While Doktor Klomp was flying to the Hibachi mountains, another nazi expedition was sent near the Totem of the Sacred Banana.
It was rumoured that the three guardian monks of the totem had a map tattooed on their butts of a centuries old track to the summits of Mount Hibachi – that map would allow the nazis to send ground reinforcements, seize and secure whatever military installation there was up there that rained death upon Golgoville.
A renowned butt reader, Ilsa managed to see the 3 parts of the map before the Black Death gang and Brutella, who had to chase the 3 monks deep inside the jungle for hours to find their way to Mount Hibachi.
When Nazi intelligence lost all communication with Docktor Klomp’s plane, the mission was put on hold., awaiting for further information before sending a large scale rescue mission. Not that Klomp was popular among the troops, but he was rumoured to be the Neo Führer’s lover.

In an enclaved plateau near Mount Hibachi, the Napoleonics from the future fought their most glorious battle, when, surrounded by mysterious of man-eating savages, they fired their laser guns at them and killed them by the dozen. Unfortunately for them, there were hundreds of the bloody cannibals, and they were eventually driven before the Son of Hibachi – a towering fat arsed giant feeding on human flesh that ruled the tribe, who had also captured Klomp and a specimen of Space Pussy. Taken to a ritual wrestling ring, conscript Marie Luis was chosen by his hierarchy to defend the colours of his beloved Empereur against the Son of Hibachi in the primitive fighting ritual.
After a combat of a hardly bearable violence, Marie Luis unexpectedly emerged triumphant. He was crowned the new Son of Hibachi by the tribe and called to reign over their lost world; a consecration that was duly celebrated by a nice stew made with nazi, space pussy and his former officers’ flesh.

Once the party was over, he used the radio in Klomp’s plane to ask to “Send more nazis” – leading to a confrontation that somewhat compromised the progression of the nazis to the snowy summit of mount Hibachi.

On top of the highest summit, the truth behind the disasters that had struck Golgoville was therefore only revealed to the incredulous eyes of the Evil Mushroom Men, Brutella and her undead minions, the Chainsaw gang and Jakar Nilson’s gang. The Banana Tyrant, the infamous interstellar criminal mastermind who had been thought dead for years, was there, surrounded by hundreds of Zorgls, ready to sweep through the streets of Golgoville and take his revenge on Golgo Island.

That was quite like his philosophy: when people hurt you, vaporise them, their family, their friends, their neighbours and their dog into smoking radioactive dust, then send a hoard of zorgls to stomp on it.

Killing zorgls by the dozen, and under the fire of his deadly banana raygun, our mighty heroes fought their way to the Banana Tyrant leaving a trail of blood and dismembered furry bodies.
Mustafa Ramirez defied the stellar brute in hand to hand – and knocked him out with a well adjusted uppercut in the balls.

But the day wasn’t saved, yet, as the insidious Mushroom Men were still there, and the thought that they might have crossed entire galaxies to seize the nuclear arsenal of a big brained space baboon and rule a despicable island lost in the middle of nowhere gave everyone chi lls at their viciousness.

Jakar Nilson fired two shells at the mushroom psyker’s head, blowing it to bits, while Malcolm the Chainsaw Demon, Brutella and Mustafa took care of the alien warlord.
An alliance of circumstances that didn’t last long, as the undead wrestlers quickly turned against the other gangs and kicked their butts out of Mount Hibachi.
The people of Golgo Island can now stop holding their breath: the Banana Tyrant’s sismo-magnetico-nucleo-biochemical armament is now in the hands of Zombie luchadores – have a nice day !

In the end, the Kings of the Ring tournament was won by a stick wielding chick.

Quest of the Bicorn, episode 1

Context

As any French Napoleonic Wargamer will know, the coffin displayed in the Invalides does not contain the remnants of the Emperor. The Emperor's corpse was stolen by ennemies of the Empire who did not want France to be blessed by its holiness.

Autant vous le dire tout de suite : ils ont raison. Ce n'est pas Napoléon Bonaparte qui repose aux Invalides mais un imposteur. Des mémoires récemment publiés ont apporté des révélations inédites sur cette sombre histoire de conspiration anti-nationale.

The recently published memoirs of captain Apeson have shed light upon these events. After his death, the corpse of the Emperor was brought to a remote island and buried in a secret place by a handful of sailors frightened by the paranormal phenomenons emanating from the body. The news have caught the attention of various entities. Emperor Napoleon's remnants are said to be a powerful relic that could bring unknown and terrific powers to those who could find the key to these secrets.

En effet, le corps de l'Empereur a été emmené sur une troisième île, qui s'avère être l'île de Golgo. Là l'équipage de l'October Flower, harcelé par une malédiction posthume a déposé les restes sacrés et rayonnant d'énergie mystique, dont la découverte pourrait bien changer l'équilibre du monde moderne.

The protagonists

Adventure Cola is a big company specializing in revigorating beverages. They have based their plans for world domination of soft drinks market upon a new concept : "Adventure Cola, the Grognard's Drink". Resurrecting Napoleon using a clever cocktail of golgo-tree beer and zombie saliva would provide them with a powerful merchandising icon that would increase their share of the market to 34,46% according to the company analysts. They hired (Safari) Kirk Hasslehoffner, Dante Comanchero and Gunther and are played by Jean-Yves.

Un empereur ramené à la vie par une décoction savante de boisson énergisante serait un atout certain dans une stratégie de marketing globale. Adventure Cola world company ? The AFDA, l'Authentique Fédération des Aigles wants to use the relic to prove to the face of the world that their own Napoleonic wargaming ruleset is the only relevant one. They hired Kid Robert, Stedley Davidson and the Diaper Avenger and are played by Benoit.

The Organization is a highly secretive body who seeks to get Nap's DNA and clone him into multiple copies to build an army able to invade Great Britain. They hired Captain Zanzibar, John Saint James and Kolchev and are played by PKP himself.

The motivation and identity of the fourth protagonists is still unknown, maybe even to themlselves. They hired Mickey the Zombie, Renato and Chance Devreux and are played by Yann.

Enfin les quatrièmes sont tellement secrets que leurs agents Mikey le Zombie, Renato Ramirez et Chance Devreux ne sont même pas sûrs d'avoir été recrutés pour cette mission. Ils ont joués par Yann.

Action !

All these arrive at night at the presumed place of burial His Emperor Napoleon. This is one of the remotest and hazardous spots of Golgo Island, deep into the jungle, dense vegetation intermingled with photogenic ruins from the Ufotecs, one of the lost civilizations of Golgo island.

Tout ça se passe dans un endroit particulièrement reculé de Golgo Island. Des ruines d'origine proto antique probablement érigées à la force de mammouths parsèment la jungle à cet endroit. Le vieux pilleur de nécropoles Pedro Jamon qui les connait bien répète à qui veut l'entendre qu'elles sont maudites.

It is night. Actually, it is seven to midnight. One can hear strange songs, either in an integral dodecaphonic mode or sang by very poor performers. Some cultists of the Old Gaiter Button Order are performing a ritual. Between them stands a stone sarcophagus.

Quelques minutes avant minuit, nos héros s'approchent de l'endroit fatidique lorsqu'ils entendent une étrange mélopée à la tonalité incertaine, digne du karaoké du samedi soir au Café du Funiculaire à Golgoville.

The four teams race towards the tomb. Disturbed by the noises denizens of the forest attack both the intruders and the cultists.

Les héros se frayent un passage tant bien que mal à travers la faune inhospitalière et infestée de puces de ces lieux.

Near the tomb dwell huge creatures, looking like mutated super zorgls. Could it be they have been exposed to the post mortem radiations of a dead military genius that turned them into super soldiers with twice the muscles and half the brain as regular zorgls ?

A force de fréquenter les ondes subétheriques émanant des reliques impériales, il fallait que cela arrive : les zorgls ayant fait leur tanière de ces ruines ont du muter et sont devenus des super zorgls : musculeux et cannibales mais hélas mélophobes.

The OGBO cultists are eaten alive by zorlgs in 6 minutes and 59 seconds and a half. They could not achieve their evil plans this time but they belong to a dark and ancient order and no doubt they will be back. Now the humans freely attack each other while still dealing with the carnivorous zorgls.

At last Renato reaches the tomb and finds it empty !

Scratches on the stone show that it has been opened very recently. So what were the cultists trying to awake ? Is it a terrific mystery or a terrible flaw in the scenario ?

Faut-il croire que les fanatiques encapuchonnés n'avaient pas pris la peine de vérifier le sarcophage de pierre avant de commencer leur incantation ? Nous allons poser la question à notre scénariste. Car il est vide, comme le découvre Renato, premier arrivé. D'un oeil expert, il constate que le tombeau a été ouvert très récemment. Et dans la poussière du fond il découvre un indice !

What was laying inside has been taken away but Renato spots a clue in the empty tomb. The key to the possible location where what was in the tomb has been taken. Now he is the target of the others who want to have a look at it too. Finally, overwhelmed by zorlgs the survivors leave the place.

Après une lutte pour récupérer l'indice, les survivants s'enfuient laissant la place aux zorlgs et aux charognards.

So what was the clue ?

Schplaf-schplaf, il faisait chaud, il y avait du vent - pour peindre de la table, c'est le bon temps.

Cet après-midi, avec mon frère Jérôme, on a commencé à bricoler de la table. C'est entièrement expérimental pour nous, on verra ce que ça donne.
Le matériel pour ces premières étapes:
- deux plaques de MDF (900*900*15mm)
- du ciment à mosaïque
- un genre de couteau de tapissier/truelle pour étaler le ciment
- un gros pinceau pour imprimer la texture dedans.
- des socles en carton pour les modules.
- un peu de flocage, genre sable.

Jérôme étale le ciment, je le mets en forme en tapotant dessus avec mon pinceau - ça sèche relativement vite, et le ciment se met en forme différemment selon son degré d'humidité. 1 litre de ciment mélangé à 1/2 litre d'eau suffit à couvrir une table.

La première, un désert radioactif type nord-américain ou australien, est simplement saupoudrée parcimonieusement de flocage, le ciment faisant le reste. On veut éviter l'écueil du "il y a tellement de texture/relief que les figues se pètent la gueule quand on veut les poser dessus".

La deuxième sera une table enneigée. Même procédé, à ceci près que la texture est plus lisse et "aérée", et qu'on n'y a pas mis de flocage. On a mélangé un peu de peinture noire au ciment pour avoir une couleur légèrement grise qu'il n'y aura, si tout va bien, plus qu'à brosser en blanc avant de la parsemer de taches de bicarbonate de sodium.
Avec le reste de ciment, on a fixé du décor Old Crow sur des socles en carton rigide. Le gag est que le carton absorbe très vite l'humidité du ciment, qui du coup sèche très vite, laissant par endroits des craquelures qu'il faudra combler. J'ai également fait quelques modules en prenant des résidus des grappes Syberclicks qui m'ont servi à faire l'arène dans le ciment.
Voilà où on en est après environ 2h30 de boulot, la suite ce sera la peinture - faudra aussi que je fixe le reste des décors Old Crow. Comme ce sont des petites pièces, peut-être que j'utiliserai le vieux tube d'enduit de rebouchage qui traîne, avant qu'il ne soit mort et plus bon à rien.

Voilà une rapide conversion (enfin, rapide - autant que peut l'être une conversion où il faut resculpter une tête complète) ayant pour base une Superfig. Il s'agit d'un des trois "boss" de la campagne du GBS, le duc autoproclamé de Golgoville - en fait, un sale gros punk qui pue.
L'iroquoise a été fait en insérant une pièce de carton de la forme adéquate dans le haut de son crâne pendant que la pâte était encore molle; une fois sèche et la crête prise dedans, j'ai fait les tifs.

A quick conversion job (well, as quick as resculpting a head can be) of a Superfig. He's one of the 3 "bosses" in the upcoming GBS campaign, the self-proclaimend Duke of Golgoville - actually a big stinking punk. I did the mohawk by inserting a piece of thin cardboard in his skull while the putty was still soft; once hard, and the piece of card stuck in it, I did the hair.

Golgoville Arena

J'ai enfin fini d'assembler l'arène chromée de Golgoville, faite avec 2 kits Syberclicks. En fait, c'est vachement long, ces machins. Je l'ai soclée sur du carton rigide, englée dans de l'enduit de rebouchage. Après ça, une bonne couche de PVA, un peu de sable et ce sera prêt à sous-coucher. Vous les voyez venir, les ours, les lions, les porcs et les éléphants?
I have finally finished the assembly of the Golgoville arena. It was made with 2 Syberclicks plastic kit, and was kind of time consuming actually. I based it on some rigid cardoard with old polyfilla - splat. Now a coat of PVA glue and some sand and it'll be ready to undercoat.
Of course, it'll be painted a shiny metal colour.

J'ai aussi fini de peindre (genre vite) les figurines Heresy qui seront mon équipe B au Golgo Banana Showdown. Les conversions sont inspirée par le poster d'un film de Lucio Fulci.
I have also finished painting up those Heresy figures (it was more speedpainting than anything, I confess), which will be my B Team at the Golgo Banana Showdown - the conversions were inspired by a Lucio Fulci movie poster.

Nous sommes heureux et fiers de vous présenter notre événement annuel: le Golgo Banana Showdown!

Cette année, il se déroulera à la MJC de Sartrouville les 1er et 2 Août, et s'accompagnera d'une compétition supplémentaire: un tournoi de Rois du Ring, toujours sur le thème de Golgo.

Une fois encore, les plus grands spécialistes du Pays Nantais se sont penchés sur l'écriture d'un scénario formidable qui permettra au plus braves de changer le destin de Golgo Island:

Golgoville, un endroit réputé pour le bon goûts de maîtres des lieux - à savoir brigands, voyous et racailles venus du monde entier. Une ville perdue où fleurissent de multiples activités dont la légalité et la légitimité sont soumises à la seule appréciation de ceux qui les font tourner. Une anarchie que personne là-bas ne remettait en question jusqu'à ce qu'une série de catastrophes inexpliquées vienne briser son fragile équilibre et plonger la ville dans un chaos indescriptible. Frappée successivement par la peste bubonique, la peste zombiogène, puis des ogives nucléaire et biochimiques, la ville se partage à présent entre quartiers dévastés, et quartiers dévastés, mais moins. Bien que le président ait assuré que tout était sous contrôle, et que la justice serait implacable contre les responsables de ce grave désagrément, la tension monte et la paranoïa s'empare de la population. Très vite, les gangs qui se partagent la ville s'accusent mutuellement. Ceux dont les quartiers ont été vaporisés sont persuadés d'avoir été les victimes d'un complot sournoisement ourdi par vengeance, envie ou jalousie, tandis que ceux dont les quartiers ont moins souffert sont submergés par un flot de migrants sans abris - au point d'accuser les autres gangs d'avoir mis en scène toute l'histoire pour venir coloniser insidieusement leur territoire.
Lorsque une énorme vague d'énergie électro-magnéto-neuro-sismique rasa complètement tout le nord de la ville, la situation échappa à tout contrôle et les gangs se déclarèrent tous simultanément la guerre, achevant de mettre la ville à feu et à sang. Le compte à rebours a commencé, l'auto-destruction est imminente, et des gros gyrophares rouges tournent en faisant tût-tût. Il s'agit de la confrontation cyclique entre le bien et le mal sur Golgo Island, représentés respectivement par la bienveillante Banane Totémique et le Grand Golgo. A l'issue de ces affrontements épiques, impliquant des factions issue du monde entier, naissent de grands changements pour l'île, et de nouveaux noms sont gravés en lettres de feu pour l'éternité au panthéon de Golgo Island. En termes plus prosaïques, il s'agit d'un tournoi pour rire utilisant les règles (gratuites) de Golgo Island/WarEngine.

A Sartrouville(78), les 1er et 2 août.

Qu'est-ce que je dois ramener?
2 groupes ou gangs de figurines: un groupe principal de 5 unités (soit des personnages, soit des unités d'une valeur de 60 à 80 points) d'un budget de 350pts, et un groupe secondaire de 3 unités (à nouveau, d'une valeur de 60 à 80pts) d'un budget de 210pts. Les figurines peuvent être de n'importe quel fabriquant - enfin, sauf ceux qui nous feraient des ennuis si on postait des images de leurs figues, vous voyez?
Selon le nombre de participants et les moyens à disposition, il est cependant possible que toutes les parties soient jouées à un budget de 3 unités/210pts, mais qui peut le plus peut le moins.
Si vous avez la possibilité d'amener une douzaine de créatures non-joueurs de même type (comme des sales punks, des civils ou otages, des zorgls, des zombies, des serpents, des aliens ou un peut n'importe quoi), c'est un plus mais en aucun cas ce n'est nécessaire. Bien entendu, tout élément de décor rigolo est également le bienvenu.
C'est une compétition pour rire, donc au final, il faut ramener ce que vous avez envie de jouer et ne pas vous préoccuper de savoir si votre gang sera "compétitif" ou pas.
Les personnages de la gamme "officielle" comme les personnages maison sont acceptés - contactez-moi simplement à banana.tyrant@gmail.com avant le tournoi pour vous assurer que tout colle dans vos profils. Quant au tournoi des Rois du Ring, tout ce qu'il vous faut, c'est une figurine de cogneur - et un ring si vous en avez un.

Ca coûte combien?
L'entrée est fixée à que dalle, et des solutions bon marché (non-lucratives) seront offertes aux participants, que ce soit pour se loger, boire ou manger. Avec l'argent ainsi économisé, vous n'aurez donc aucun scrupule à dépenser les études des enfants nés ou à naître pour payer des bières aux organisateurs sympathiques ou acheter les somptueuses figurines de la gamme Golgo Island.

C'est bien gentil tout ça, mais j'y ai jamais joué, moi, à ton WarEngine truc...
Peu importe - ça s'apprend vite. Tant que vous voulez jouer des parties débiles avec des figues débiles avec une bande de débiles, vous remplissez les conditions requises.

C'est un jeu de baston apéritif pondu par Chien Sauvage (aka Bob Ouest). Les règles sont dans les downloads du site.

We are happy to announce our annual special Golgo Island gaming event: the Golgo Banana Showdown!

This year, it will be held at the MJC (Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture) in Sartrouville on August 1 & 2, and will feature a side-competition: a Golgo-themed Kings of the Ring tournament.

Once again the greatest scenario writers in the Pays Nantais have written an exciting plot for you to change the fate of Golgo Island:

Golgoville, Golgo Island – home to scoundrels, petty criminals, thugs and low-life from all over the world. A lost place where all kinds of businesses flourish and prosper under the sole control of those who run them. A self-regulating anarchy everyone had got used to until a series of unexplained disasters turned the city into a most indescribable mess. Successively struck by the black plague, the zombie plague, and nuclear and biochemical warheads, the city is now divided between completely devastated areas and not quite as devastated areas. Despite the president saying everything was under control and justice would be swift to those responsible for the inconvenience, tensions are dramatic and paranoia rampant. Street gangs mutually accuse each other. Those from the more damaged blocks are convinced they are the victims of a vicious vendetta motivated by old rivalries, envy, or greed, while those whose territory was spared want to defend it against populations who were made homeless and what they think could be a set up to insidiously colonise and invade their turf. When a huge electro-magneto-sismic death ray shockwave blew the northern area into complete oblivion, the situation degenerated completely out of control and multi-lateral all out gang wars were declared. In Golgoville, the countdown to self-destruction has begun. Luckily, a few enlightened minds set passion aside for a moment, stepped back and started to seek plausible explanations and a way to avoid complete annihilation. Will you be one of the brave heroes who will shed some light on the mysterious disasters that Golgoville has been undergoing? Will you side with the filthy hooligans who will seize the opportunity to kill/destroy/melt stuff for laughs? Will you establish a new order, for good or evil, or fulfil the dark millenarist prophecies of the Cult of the Great Golgo ? What is the Golgo Banana Showdown?
It is the cyclical confrontation of good and evil on Golgo Island, respectively represented by the benevolent Totemic Banana, and the dreaded Great Golgo. From those mighty clashes involving factions from all over, great changes arise on the island, and new names are cast in fiery letters in the Golgo Island hall of fame forever. In less poetical terms, it is a campaign organised as an uncompetitive tournament using the (free) Golgo Island/WarEngine rules.

Where and when is it?
On August 1-2 in Sartrouville, France (78).

What do I need?
2 groups/gangs: a main one of 5 units (single characters or squads ranging from 60 to 80pts – figures can be from any manufacturer) for a gang budget of 350pts, and a secondary one of 3 units/210pts. Depending on the number of participants, it is however possible that 2 units of your main gang might be left out, and all games are played using the smaller budget of 3 units/210pts per gang.
If you can bring any, a dozen silly non-player creatures (like helpless thugs, civilians, but also zorgls, zombies, snakes, aliens, ...) would be a plus, but is not a requirement.
This is a tongue in the cheek competition so bring what you like, and don’t worry about the supposed competitiveness of your gang!
"Official characters" as well as custom characters are equally accepted - just contact me at banana.tyrant@gmail.com before the competition to make sure your profiles are 100% legit.
As for the Kings of the Ring tournament, all you need is a single close combat fighter figure.

How much do I have to pay to participate?
Entry is free, and wallet-friendly solutions will be offered to participants for housing, food and drinks. But you are of course welcome to spend the money thereby saved by buying the organisers a beer, or some lovely Golgo Island figures.

Yeah but I’ve never played that WarEngine thingie…
Nevermind – you will learn quickly. As long as you want to play fun games with adequately silly figs in a laid back atmosphere, consider you can and must come.

What’s that “Kings of the Ring” stuff?
It’s a free beer and pretzels miniature board game made by Chien Sauvage (aka Bob Ouest) that got very popular thanks to French gaming blogs. 2 to 4 players control a single fighter on a ring; the game mechanics use playing cards and are very simple and fun. With permission from the author, the French and English version will be available from the Golgo Island website soon.

I haven't posted anything for a while as I've been kind of busy over the last few weeks.
I have some sculpting underway which I'll show when it is presentable.
Till the next post, here are a few pics of the figs from the latest release which I took for the website; the rest I'll need to take more pics of, I'm afraid.
Je n'ai pas posté grand chose ces derniers temps; j'ai été genre pas mal occupé ces dernières semaines. N'empêche, j'aurai un peu de sculpture à montrer bientôt, quand ce sera présentable. AKAPKP and I were there with more or less the same Golgoville demos we took at the Convention in Buchères.

Once again, the babe rescue scenario attracted the eyes of passers-by. I shall say it once again:

The convention was the first time the newer figures specifically dedicated to the Golgoville theme were in action, fighting infamous ninja pimps by Megaminis.

Convention Day

Samedi prochain, on sera au Convention Day à Lille.
Quand je dis "on", ça veut dire rien moins que moi-même personnellement en personne et la star de la blogosphère AKAPKP, celui dont les jeunes filles arrachent le T-shirt à la sortie des clubs cools.
Gerg n'y sera pas parce qu'il doit se la péter ailleurs.
Comme d'hab, on y fera de la démo participative avec des bons packs des golgogurine sous le bras. On espère aussi boire une binouse avec Josef Ochman d'Obelisk - un mec cool qui fait des figues cool. Si vous avez l'occasion, venez nous voir - le mot de passe secret est "Elles sont comment, vos bananes?".

Next Saturday, we'll be at the Convention Day in Lille. When I say "we", it means no less than me myself personally in person and blogosphere superstar AKAPKP, the one who has his T-shirt torn off by young babes when he gets out of cool night clubs. Gerg won't be there as he needs to show off elsewhere.
As usual, we'll be running participative demos and will have good packs of golgofigs with us. We also hope we can have a beer with Josef Ochman of Obelisk - a cool guy making cool figs. If you're around, drop by and say hi - the secret password is "Are your bananas tasty?"

Been painting!
I was doing some chain painting on the whole lot of the 4th release to have them ready for the upcoming convention in Lille on June 6th, and got carried away with that one: Jakar Nilson.
He was named after a TMPer/Frother who's been following our gaming stuff since the Iron dream Tournament - you can tell he has good taste.
And he is a pretty talented git on top of that: he did me an awesome piece of artwork after I showed him the green.

I tried to adopt a crude, heavily contrasted style for the highlights. Maybe I'll soften that a bit later when I do the final touch ups.
